Adam on Pico de Orizaba in Mexico.
Nationality: American. Occupation: Civil engineer. Missions with C4C: Kilimanjaro 2018.
How long have you climbed? 16 years. Type of climbing you do: Hiking and mountaineering. Highlight of climbing career: Climbing Pico de Orizaba (18,491 feet/5,636 meters) outside of Mexico City.
How long have you been a Christian? My entire life. Type of ministry you are blessed to serve in: Family (husband and father of two boys, ages 5 and 4). This will be my first mission trip.
Favorite Scripture verse (and why): Matthew 7:1-2. “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” People are often quick to cast judgement on others and become hypocrites instead of forgiving and allowing God to pass the final judgement. This is a powerful message that I remind myself to not pass judgement, but rather learn and understand.
Special “God moment” you’d like to share: Shortly after my wife Laura and I were married, we began looking for houses where WE thought we wanted to be. We put offers on numerous houses only to be disappointed. We even had closing dates set for several homes. Something always seemed to get in the way of what WE wanted. That same year, I was offered a job in the town (Cañon City, CO) where both of our families live. Looking back, it was a good lesson and reminder to our family that He is in control and knows the plans He has for us. We are so blessed to be surrounded by family who are now able to be so involved in our children’s lives. I was also able to be blessed with time with my dad before he passed away three years ago. This experience helped me to put my trust in the Lord and reminded me to listen to His plan for me.
What does Climbing For Christ mean to you? A chance to spread the word of God to the people of the world who have not had the opportunity to know Jesus. Climbing For Christ reaches out to some of the poorest of the poor in regions difficult to reach spiritually and physically.
