As I arrived in Huanuco City, I was received by Brother Hilmar. He brought me to the Assembly of God Church of Pacapucro, where he is a church leader. Pacapucro is a rural area near Huanuco, a city in central Peru about 100 miles east of Huaraz – the base camp for Climbing For Christ in Peru. Brother Hilmar introduced me and invited me to share about the work that Climbing For Christ (C4C) is doing in the mountains of Peru and around the world. I preached on Psalm 40:1-2, 4, 8 and 10: “I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me ...

Mission Moments: Peru (January) In November 2012, Climbing For Christ was blessed to receive a generous donation from an American sister in Christ who wanted to see a church built in Chalhua. Here is Jaime’s edited report from the field: I arrived in Chalhua village on Thursday, Jan. 3 to see Allison’s family, which was a blessing. [Allison is the young girl first befriended]...

Oh, my Lord, I love you.” Here is Jaime’s edited report: River crossing between Yanama and Palo Verde. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good...

Jaime Servat, Climbing For Christ’s missionary to Peru, said God changed our plans to His plans and showed us a village in the Cordillera Negra “open to receive His name.” Jaime went with Edwin Milla, a guide and C4C’s sponsored climber, and Edwin’s brother Marco. The original plan, scheduled Oct. 10-13, was altered by agricultural protests — farmers violently trying to reclaim land in the region. “They attack with stones any public or private transportation,” Jaime said. “But one day after the radio stations said it was quiet, we prayed an...

Jaime Servat, Climbing For Christ’s missionary to Peru, said God “showed me His love and the trails to understand better His grace and mercy through His mountains in the Ancash provinces. Praise God because He is All in All.” Here are edited excerpts from Jaime’s detailed report of his Sept. 19-27 mission: “He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.” — Psalm 144:2 “…because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights ...

Jaime Servat, Climbing For Christ’s missionary to Peru, said God again showed him that people through the mountains are suffering strange illnesses emanating from demonic possession, as well as other physical maladies, and poor parental upbringing of children. “He showed me the need to see new churches so the people will come to worship Him and pray more and wait for His miracles,” Jaime reported after spending from Aug. 3-28 in the mission field. Here are edited excerpts from Jaime’s latest comprehensive report to C4C: Alisson with gifts shipped from the Stat...

Mission Moments: August 2012 Throughout much of the month of August, Climbing For Christ missionary to Peru Jamie Servat ministered in the remote mountains of the Cordillera Negra and Cordillera Blanca ranges of the Peruvian Andes. He spent a great deal of time returning to several of the villages that were visited during Mission: Peru 2012, which took place from July 16-28. By Jordan Rowley Spiritual Coordinator, Climbing For Christ HIStory In May 2011, God sent a team of four from the United States to the Peruvian Andes Mountains. It was a family affair. The U.S. contingent was made up of father and son Gary and Jesse Fallesen, and my brother Justin Rowley and me. We were blessed to serve alongside many of our Climbing For Christ members from Peru. It was a joy getting to know them, as well as their passion for the Lord and the lost. Mission: Peru 2011 was essentially planned as a survey trip, and we learned very quickly that the fields in the remote mountain...

Forty-eight hours after leaving Huaraz, Peru, my brother Justin and I finally arrived in Rochester, NY, USA. After our flight from Newark, NJ was cancelled, we decided to make the six-hour drive to Rochester. In spite of all of the bumps and detours throughout this mission, we joyfully reflect on all of the wonderful things that God accomplished during our time in Peru, and look forward to hearing how the Lord continues to work through brother Jaime and our C4C Peru members and friends. Until next time! “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God pre...

EDITOR'S NOTE: U.S. team members Jordan and Justin Rowley are traveling back to the United States, marking the end of this short-term mission. Missionary Jaime Servat and our Peruvian members will carry on the work in-country.
Late last night we enjoyed a sweet time of fellowship at Allison’s house with her mother Taina and grandparents, Teresa and Eleazar. We gave the family a number of gifts, sent with love from the United States. They could not stop thanking Jaime, Justin, me, the Fallesens and the ministry of Climbing For Christ. We all gave God thanks and praise for these special relationships that He has established. Early this morning Jaime and I met with a promising young Christian leader named Ivan. We gave him a study Bible, encouraged him in the faith, and prayed over him. After our time with Iva...

We traveled from Chilcabamba to Chalhua, where it was a joy to reconnect with Pastor Isabel as well as our precious Allison and her family. We spent much of the day in Machco, a neighboring village, where we invited many people to watch the Jesus film. We also had many opportunities to pray with a number of the people. After we trekked back to Chalhua, we received word that Allison’s mother, who has epilepsy, just had a seizure. So the team divided into two groups: Justin, Franklin and Juan went to spread the Word throughout Chalhua, while Jaime and I went to visit and pray over Taina...

Today was amazing! We began by visiting with a family that Jaime had met and ministered to on his last visit to Chilcabamba. The grandmother of this family received Jesus as her Savior after we shared the Gospel with her. Later, we met up with Carmina, who took us to a neighboring village called Carhuaeara. We trekked for about one hour under the scorching mid-day sun. There we met and prayed with a handful of the town’s 11 Christians. After we trekked back to Chilcabamba, Justin and the others began setting up for our Jesus film presentation while Jaime, Carmina and I went to visit a...

Before breakfast this morning in Coihuairanan, Jaime introduced me to a 12-year-old boy named Diego. We shared the Gospel with him and he was ready to receive the Lord. What a blessed way to start the day! We then broke down our camp and headed to Chilcabamba, which is a village Jaime visited a few months ago. We reestablished several contacts and made some new ones as well. One of those original contacts was a Christian woman named Carmina. She is one of a handful of Christians in the village. (But we hope to change that and add to her number.) As we were talking to Carmina we learned that...

We had a very fruitful time of encouragement with the new believers in Hierbabuena this morning. Each of them were given Gospel of John study guides to help them grow in God’s Word. After our time with the new believers we trekked to the village of Coihuairanan. We shared the Gospel with several of the mountain farmers there. We also prayed over a young man who was suffering from epilepsy as well as an elderly woman who had very bad arthritis. There were many God moments throughout the day, and we were blessed to build a number of strong relationships. In the evening we showed the ...
