Project Prayer: Ramadan 2016 - Day 18

Day 18: Overcoming obstacles, part 2 — A history of conflict and contempt By Jordan Rowley, spiritual coordinator, Climbing For Christ Centuries ago, a war raged between those who fought under the Cross and those who fought under the Crescent. Brutal and bloody battles were waged under the flag of Christendom and that of the Muslim world. Both supposedly waged war in the name of God. Not only was each side driven by their devotion to God, they were compelled by duty, honor and fear. In the end, after nearly 200 years of conflict, an estimated 1.7 million people died. This war &mda... Read more »

Project Prayer: Ramadan 2016 - Day 16

Day 16: Sharing the Gospel, part 3 — Persevering in prayer By Jordan Rowley, spiritual coordinator, Climbing For Christ Praying for a Muslim woman in Indonesia. Although we covered a handful of basic similarities between Islam and Christianity on Day 11 of Project Prayer: Ramadan 2016, there are many more considerable differences that can seem almost insurmountable. These obstacles can seem like mighty mountains making it nearly impossible for a follower of Islam to become a follower of Jesus. But, our Lord has some interesting things to say concerning His ability to move mountai... Read more »

Project Prayer: Ramadan 2016 - Day 15

Day 15: Understanding Islam, part 3 — Beliefs and duties By Jordan Rowley, spiritual coordinator, Climbing For Christ The principles and practices of the religion of Islam are vast. Any honest Imam or Islamic scholar would likely admit that there is much that even he doesn’t know about the Muslim faith. One could spend a lifetime of study and still have much more to learn. That said, there are six basic doctrinal beliefs and five key duties of Islam. Six beliefs We briefly covered the six basic beliefs of Islam on Day 10. They are: Belief in the absolute unity and s... Project Prayer: Ramadan 2016 - Day 12

Day 12: Overcoming obstacles, part 1 — Family, familiarity and fear By Jordan Rowley, spiritual coordinator, Climbing For Christ Just imagine… As far back as your mind can take you, you have fond memories of going to church with your parents and siblings. At Sunday School, you sang Christian songs and recited Bible verses. You watched your mom and dad practice their faith, and learned to do the same. They’ve always been devout Christians and would talk to you often about stories from the Bible – especially when you had a problem. It always seemed to help you un... Read more »

Project Prayer: Ramadan 2016 - Day 11

Day 11: Sharing the Gospel, part 2 — Simply Jesus By Jordan Rowley, spiritual coordinator, Climbing For Christ With Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy and its many denominations of Protestantism, the whole of Christendom contains vast variety. The House of Islam (Dar al-Islam) is no different. Among the world’s Muslims we find various traditions, beliefs and social nuances. Unfortunately, many of these differences result in a house divided even to the point of violence. In Islam, there are two main sects: Sunni and Shi’a (or Shi’ite). According the Pew Research Cent... Project Prayer: Ramadan 2016 - Day 4

Day 4: Sharing the Gospel, part 1 — Truth and love, no compromise By Jordan Rowley, spiritual coordinator, Climbing For Christ   Gary Fallesen prays for a blind Kurdish man, Yusuf, whom he befriended on missions to eastern Turkey from 2013 to 2015. He prayed that Yusuf, a Muslim, would have dreams about Christ and through them realize Jesus is the One true God. (Photo by Elaine Fallesen, Mission: Ararat 2015) When we’re talking about witnessing for Jesus Christ, truth and love go hand in hand. They are two sides to the same coin. United they stand, divided they f... Read more »

Day 2: Understanding Islam, part 1 —Allah and his prophet By Jordan Rowley, spiritual coordinator, Climbing For Christ   Mosque in Moshi, Tanzania, declaring above the entrance: “None to be worshipped but Allah. Mission: Peru 2015 Trip Report

In step, every step Story and photos by Jordan Rowley Climbing For Christ spiritual coordinator We rejoice in the work our great God accomplished in some of the most rugged and remote corners of the Cordillera Blanca range of the Peruvian Andes during this mission. Many sick and afflicted were prayed over and cared for. Many believers were encouraged and edified. New Testaments were distributed to those in need of God’s precious Word. A church that God used Climbing For Christ to construct was celebrated and dedicated. Sixteen souls – more than half of whom had never heard o... Read more »

Project Prayer: Ramadan 2015

June 18-July 17 “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." – Matthew 19:26 July 17 – Life vs. Death “And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Humla's House of Worship

Climbing For Christ (C4C) has been working in the Far West district of Humla, Nepal since 2012. We've been blessed to encourage our fellow Christ followers, share the Good News with the lost and even offer medical care on our most recent missions. The Lord has been building His Church - the body of Christ - in this remote place. From only a handful of believers in Simikot, Humla's district headquarters, to well over a hundred in the area today, the number of Christians has been growing rapidly! In fact, the church that meets in Simikot has outgrown the small space it rents for worship. God... Read more »

Faith in Action: A Plea for Prayer

Is God really in control? Does He really have the power to move mountains? Did all those miracles in the Bible really take place? Would God really move in the same way today? Chances are the majority of us reading this would answer a resounding “yes!” to each of those questions. But here’s another question to consider: Do we pray like we really believe all those things? In other words, is our faith backed up by our actions? Think about it. If we say we believe that our all-powerful God truly hears the prayers of His people and then He actually moves in response to them acco... Read more »

Mission Moments: ECUADOR

Help in time of need “I am telling you the acts that God allowed in my missionary journey, by His grace.” This is how Brother Jaime Servat, C4C’s missionary to Peru, began his latest report from the field – which for the past several months has been Ecuador. The mission field is everywhere for God’s servants. Whether Peru or Ecuador, mountain villages or an ice cream shop, God’s children are “on mission” wherever their feet take them. Jaime’s February mission report began with him looking for a cup of coffee. “God guided me to a... Read more »

Uganda

A village in the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda. (Photo by Pastor Rich Friday) Once known as the pearl of Africa because of its rich resources, beautiful and fertile landscape, incredible wildlife and many diverse peoples who have called this part of Africa their home for ages, Uganda experienced decades of intense turbulence that nearly led to its destruction in the 20th century. Part of this instability was the result of many tribes and ethnic groups suddenly being merged under one flag after gaining independence from Britain in 1962. These groups can be separated ... Mission: Kilimanjaro 2014 (Part 2) Trip Report

Planting, watering, and God-given growth By Jordan Rowley C4C spiritual coordinator Even prior to departing for Tanzania on Nov. 10, the Lord instilled in me a humbling sense that I would be tasting fruit from work that had taken place long before my involvement. Indeed the fruit was sweet, as the planting and watering has been divinely directed since 1998 – when God first placed the vision of Climbing For Christ upon the heart of its founding president, Gary Fallesen. “We took our first mission team to Kilimanjaro in 2007. During that trip, God intersected the paths of G... Read more »
