HIStory: Nepal

A letter to Climbing For Christ Dear family: Greetings in Jesus' name! There are so many things to praise God about. He is so good to us and He has brought many blessings through Climbing For Christ (C4C). I can proudly say that all that has  happened and is happening in Nepal is not by man's might but by His might and Spirit. Miraculously, God introduced C4C to me in 2008 and since then we began to pray and work together to reach out to the lost of Nepal. By God's grace C4C helped us build a church in Dapcha Kavre, where God's people are worshiping with gladness. That is wh... Read more »

Mission: Ararat 2013 Trip Report

Sharing Christ's love with a smile By Gary Fallesen President, Climbing For Christ Her father watched as she hiked out of Base Camp with the rest of the Mission: Ararat team, heading toward High Camp and ultimately the 16,854-foot summit of Mount Ararat. God had given him peace about letting his 19-year-old daughter go on without him. Only the day before the old man had shared with the team and then the rest of the Climbing For Christ world the message: “It’s about the mission, not the summit.” He had work to do at the lower elevations – around the 11,000-foot ... A day in the life of ministry

Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 (Photo from missionary Miguel Rubén Guante) HAITI: It was the first day of classes for about 50 students attending the Monte Pou Kris (Climbing For Christ in Haitian Creole) school in the Dominican border town of Jimani. Because of budget cuts, C4C is supporting only the Jimani and Malasi schools in 2013-2014. We are attempting to raise US$1,000 support to construct a roof for the fledgling church and school in Mare Pitre. Another ministry can pay the teachers there if we can manage to put up a temporary structure to house school children during the week a... Read more »

DISPATCHES: Ararat

By Gary Fallesen Founding president, Climbing For Christ Mission: Ararat Prayer Calendar Monday, Aug. 5 There is a Kurdish proverb, “Sam seker wilat serintie e.,” which means “Damascus is sweet, but one's country is even sweeter.” In other words, there is no place like home. Our Mission: Ararat 2013 team members have returned to their respective homes, giving thanks and praising God. Sunday, Aug. 4 Our team has begun flying back to the States after saying goodbyes in the afternoon to guides-turned-friends Adem and Behzat. There was some unrest outside our... Read more »

Ararat 2013: A personal reflection

It's about the mission, not the summit By Gary Fallesen Founding president, Climbing For Christ “Mission, not mountain. “People, not peak. “Service, not summit.” As I limped up 3,700 vertical feet to Base Camp on the first day of our Mission: Ararat climb – “remember, Gary, this is the easy walk,” guide Adem said – I thought about my leg injury, our last climb here, and Climbing For Christ's purpose. Why would I pull a thigh muscle 10 days before an Evangelical Expedition? Why indeed. On the flight from the United States to Turk... Read more »

Pakistan

“Please encourage our efforts to spread the Gospel in the hardest part of the world — the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.” These words came from a pastor who joined Climbing For Christ in 2008. We hear stories daily about terrorism, bombings, murder, kidnapping, and harassment. Particularly at risk are ambassadors for Christ. “Discrimination affects virtually every aspect of daily life such as education, health, livelihood and housing,” according to Open Doors USA, which adds: “Opening a new church building is almost impossible.” Open Doors has ... Mission Moments: Pakistan (May 29, 2013)

Schooling the spiritually poor By Gary Fallesen Climbing For Christ president Christian children in Pakistan come from poor families or are orphans living with relatives and they are unable to help themselves. They cannot afford to go to school and they have no idea why they are among the persecuted. Their existence has been described by another ministry as “living below the spiritual poverty line.” But Jesus blesses the persecuted (Matthew 5:10) and God counts the tears of His children (Psalm 56:8). We believe this is why He gave our brother in Christ, Evangelist Najeeb, the ... Read more »

Building His church “…and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” – Matthew 16:18 (ESV) God is using Climbing For Christ to build churches in Chalhua, Peru; Jimani, Dominican Republic; Mare Pitre, Haiti, and Kathmandu, Nepal. We have asked for support – prayerful and financial – for these projects. We are adding another: Faisalabad, Pakistan. “As I was praying to the Lord for a church building, (the) Lord showed me a piece of land, which is in beautiful area where our congregation could jo... DISPATCHES: Nepal (May 2013)

By Gary Fallesen Climbing For Christ president “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV) It seemed a clear directive. Ask for funding to GO to Nepal and receive more than enough funding to GO to Nepal. [See E-Newsletter 222.] This was God’s plan, right? And then the usual spiritual attacks set in, including illness. No worries. We’ve been this way before. But in the hours ... Read more »

Mission Moment: Pakistan (April 18)

More for Lahore Back in March, the homes and possessions of around 200 Christian families were viciously burned in the village of Lahore, Pakistan. [CLICK HERE to read Fiery Persecution in Pakistan.] Since then, these precious families have struggled to regain any sense of their “normal” lives. “It was incredible to see the people who were struggling to get relief items from us,” Haseeb Masih, of C4C partner ministry Save Pakistan, said after returning from his third trip to Lahore. During this visit, women’s clothing as well as men’s, women&rs... Read more »

Pray for the persecuted, and persecutors “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…” – Jesus speaking in Matthew 5:43-44 (ESV) Delivering bowls and towels to those in need. Fiery Persecution in Pakistan

"But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one." - 2 Thessalonians 3:3 One man’s alleged blasphemy against Islam quickly led to the homes of about 200 Christian families being vandalized and burned as they fled for their lives in Lahore, Pakistan on March 9. Two Christian churches were also burned as the mob of nearly 4,000 Muslim men took to the streets of Lahore. Shortly after this incident, one of Climbing For Christ’s partner ministries, Save Pakistan, responded and went to Lahore to minister to the needs of those affected by the attack. In... Read more »

Mission Moment: Pakistan (Dec. 23, 2012)

Climbing For Christ partner ministry Save Pakistan returned Saturday from its most recent Bible distribution. “It was amazing to meet the (young people) who were converting from different religions,” said evangelist Haseeb, the founder of Save Pakistan. “We had prayers and worship together. I (taught) them about the reality and truth of God, and invited them to come to the kingdom of god. They (had) lots of questions about Jesus Christ and I answered them from the Bible.” “I told them the Bible is own words of Jesus Christ, which could never change – ever... Read more »

Mission Moment (Monday, Oct. 29, 2012) "It is always a great blessing for me to hand out the Word of God to those people who are in great need and struggling to get it," Evangelist Haseeb said after returning from last week's Bible distribution. The Lord makes me able to reach out to those people who are hungry and thirsty about the Word of God." Haseeb said he was invited to a prayer meeting in a village where his mnistry, Sav...
