Mission: Malawi 2026

Field of God dreams

In an early study from our disciples-making-disciples training, we looked at “The Four Fields of Church Planting.” The process goes from an empty field to a seeded field (sharing the Gospel) to a growing field (discipling) to the harvest field (formation of the Church).

We have seen this leap from the pages of a textbook into the lives of those in and around the Mulanje Massif Chapter of guides and porters in southern Malawi.

Damson Samson, our Malawi-based Africa coordinator, said he felt like the blind man healed by Jesus in Mark 8. At first the man said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around” (verse 24). Then, he said, “I was able to see clearly.”

“Classroom study and training have been helpful and built our faith stronger than before,” Damson said. “But practical evangelism on the mountains has greatly contributed to learning even more.

“As it says, practice makes perfect.”

The perfection of the faith of nearly 100 guides and porters has rescued souls, saved families, and made villages better places to live. It has produced, as Damson says, a bumper crop.

Individuals have started groups for Bible study and Climbing For Christ’s teaching has fanned the flames of these ever-enlarging cell groups.

“The fire (of the Spirit) is overwhelming to Malawi,” Damson declared. “We can prove a high yield spiritually of groups growing and stronger.”

One example: Bizwark Muhango, one of the original members of our DMD training, was called home by the Lord in April 2024. Yet the cell group he started continued to grow and remained “healthy” despite him not being there, Damson said. “God is still watering and making them grow.”

The only thing that can slow the work of this chapter is the enemy. “The devil comes to kill and destroy,” Damson said. “It will be the plan of the devil to have planned work cancelled because of a lack of funds. It’s not because God says, ‘No.’ It (lack of support) brings great loss to the kingdom of God. If nobody is there to water them, wilting and withering is the result. Denying water is the purpose of the devil who hinders our supporters to not help.”

He points to the early Church “selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all,” as it says in Acts 2:45. “May we have people who are willing and ready to sell to support the ministry,” Damson said.

“My prayer is, ‘Father, provide to all mission trips this year and the years to come. All to Your glory!’” Amen.

HERE AM I. SEND ME! There is no short-term mission planned. Bi-monthly Mulanje Massif Chapter training will continue, led by C4C Africa coordinator Damson Samson, in the classroom and on Mulanje mountain. Email info@ClimbingForChrist.org if you are interested in supporting the work in Malawi.
