Mission: Peru 2024

Backpacks full of Jesus’s love

By Edwin Milla

We experienced a challenging missionary trek with the Climbing For Christ team in the majestic Cordillera Blanca in 2023. Before embarking on that unforgettable journey, I spent months meditating and reflecting on the destination of our next expedition. As I contemplated the challenges and blessings of the previous trek, I felt God leading me toward a new adventure: the 2024 mission expedition in the Huayhuash mountain range.

The seed of this desire had been sown in my heart long before the first steps were taken in the Cordillera Blanca. During my moments of meditation, I felt how God touched my soul with the vision of bringing the message of love and hope to a place full of charms and wonders that He Himself had created: the Huayhuash mountain range.

I excitedly shared my vision with the C4C team, and soon received a confirmation email when C4C president Gary Fallesen asked me to write these lines about … Huayhuash.

The Huayhuash mountain range, with its imposing peaks and serene valleys, became the setting for this future mission.

This missionary expedition will not only be a physical journey, but also a spiritual and service journey. In 2024, with backpacks full of Bibles and evangelistic material, we will head toward the Huayhuash mountain range with the firm conviction that God has called us to bring His light to those beautiful places. With each step, with each word shared, we will seek to leave a mark of love and hope on those we will meet on our journey through the imposing Huayhuash mountain range.

Mission: Peru 2024: This will be Climbing For Christ’s ninth expedition to Peru since 2011, and our third trek in the Cordillera Huayhuash. This will be a 10-day trek covering many miles and climbing across several mountain passes. The entire mission will be spent above 10,000 feet/3,000 meters. This trip is scheduled June 16 to July 2.
