Mission: Haiti 2026
Clinic to rescue the sick
By GARY FALLESEN, Climbing For Christ founder
Out of death, we have life through Jesus Christ. Thanks to Jesus, from the near death of Gilbert Lindor, life will be given to others.
When Gilbert was rescued from the jaws of death in 2007 – his badly broken leg turned to gangrene 27 days after the 10-year-old boy had fallen while playing – we knew God had a plan and a special purpose for his life. Gilbert graduated from medical school in neighboring Dominican Republic in 2025 and we share a God-breathed dream for his future.
Gilbert already leads Climbing For Christ’s New Generation of workers in Haiti, where we have opened and support schools for more than 600 children in the Chaine de la Selle mountains. He has provided care for hundreds through C4C medical clinics while studying to become a doctor. Now we dare to dream about opening a regular clinic where there is no medical care in the mountains of Haiti.
This is inspired by Gilbert’s survival story.
When he broke his leg while playing with a friend in a ravine near his home in the mountain village of Gentilhomme, there was no medical care anywhere nearby. His father wrapped his leg in a bandage and carried him inside their house, where he stayed until our worker at the time found him nearly four weeks later – on the verge of death.
Gilbert’s father had already dug a grave for his son. But his heavenly Father, the Great Physician, had other plans for the future Dr. Gilbert. God has guided Climbing For Christ to build a clinic – or (perhaps one day) a group of clinics.
“A clinic would be a means of rescue for the inhabitants of these places,” Dr. Gilbert said. “Many people die from their illnesses, first because they have no way to detect them in time.” And, secondly, they have no way to pay medical expenses in the Western Hemipshere’s poorest country.
Time after time, we have helped extricate the ailing from a mountain village to seek care across the border in the Dominican Republic.
“That is why the idea of having a clinic with different facilities is more than just an idea,” Dr. Gilbert said, “it is an ongoing project. May God be our Guide and Provider. May God make it possible – if it is His will – for His glory.”
Gilbert quotes Psalm 37:4: “Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Our desire is to help the sick and the injured in a Christ-centered clinic. Would you pray for this project and consider supporting the building of a place that would provide rescue for the ailing and the hurting?
“For me, having a clinic in the mountains of Haiti would not simply be a response to the requests of all the parents at our schools,” said Dr. Gilbert, who began his own education in a school started in the first church Climbing For Christ built. “It would be an opportunity for so many of our patients with limitations to medical services due to the distance and the impossibility of answering the costs.”
HERE AM I. SEND ME! No expeditions are currently planned for 2026. Climbing For Christ is supporting C4C’s New Generation (C4CNG), a group of Haitian members led by Kingdom worker Gilbert Lindor. Contact us at info@ClimbingForChrist.org if you would like to support C4CNG through prayer and financial giving.
