Mission: Peru 2025

Joy of Jesus

By ANDREAS MORITZ

When I think back to Mission Peru 2023, I remember a lot of rain and walking many kilometers, but often missing the amazing views around us as everything was covered in clouds of mist. What I also remember is an old Quechua farmer’s wife saying, “I feel joy in my heart and my shoulder pain is gone” after we prayed for her. I remember searching an empty village and, instead of going back to camp, we made a detour and met a field worker who then accepted Jesus and asked for a Bible.

I remember the good food, the good fellowship, and how on our last evening together, our two cooks and three donkey drivers all asked how they could be saved and then prayed together for salvation.

Now, after more than a year, we are finally coming back. Our 2024 expedition was cancelled after Kingdom worker Edwin Milla was badly injured in a fatal bus accident.

I don’t know what God has planned, but I know He has a perfect plan for us and all we have to do is respond to His call and be obedient. There are Quechua farmers, living remotely in the Cordillera Huayhuash mountain range in the Peruvian Andes, in need of the Good News and prayer. They need the joy of Jesus!

THE EXPEDITION: Scheduled May 18-June 4. The trek will take 11 days (after two days of acclimatization in Huaraz). This is a high-altitude circuit, and our team will be crossing passes between 15,750 feet/4,800 meters and 16,500 feet/5,010 meters. Membership required. Email info@ClimbingForChrist.org for a mission application.

Andreas (Andy) Moritz is Climbing For Christ’s Germany-based Global Kingdom Worker. He is leading this, our ninth Peru expedition since 2011.
