Brandy Fisher, C4C Canada coordinator

Brandy (Everts) Fisher sharing on Mission: Possible 3 in 2009.

I am so excited to be a part of Climbing For Christ (C4C)! It is humbling to know that I have the privilege to play a little part in the enormous picture of all God has in store for C4C in Canada and worldwide. May He be glorified in our every step as we move ahead in what God has marked out for us.

I first heard about C4C in 2009 when a friend from my church and member of C4C, Aaron Hemphill, was going on Mission: Possible 3. I was very intrigued, which then led to Aaron encouraging me to become a member and applying for the Evangelic Expedition. Once I felt God say, “Go!” I became a member and was accepted to the team in two days. Within a month, Mission: Possible 3 embarked on an incredible journey.

At the end of our trip, Climbing For Christ president Gary Fallesen met with each team member individually and discussed our thoughts and reflections of the mission. I never told Gary, but I was thinking this trip was probably my one time working with C4C and then God would take me other places. I loved the trip, loved the nation, loved everything about the trip, but I never thought of myself as a “Climbing For Christ-er.” But God had other plans! The final night before returning to North America, I laid awake in my room thinking about how to begin discipling this nation. Upon returning to Canada, I began preparing some material, which eventually was created, with a collaboration of other peoples’ input, as C4C’s Discipleship Guide.

Within a year, Gary asked me to come on Mission: Possible 5. God said, “Go!” so I said, “Yes!” Again, when leaving I did not know how much future work I would do with C4C. Again, I was wrong! Gary asked me if I would lead the Mission: Possible 6 team the following year. God said, “Go!” so I said, “Yes!”

Before our team departed from North America in May 2011, Gary asked me to pray about coordinating Climbing For Christ Canada. My immediate thoughts were: “But God, I don’t want to stay in Canada!” I love being out in the mission field and going wherever God says “Go!” Just like my last night on Mission: Possible 3, I laid awake in my tent and gave this decision much thought and prayer. Again, I felt God say, “Yes, do it!” So, “Here am I. Send me!” To Canada — or the ends of the earth.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” — Isaiah 6:8

Now I laugh as I think through this story and realize that I really have no idea what is happening in my life! I am reminded in 2006, when I was in Nepal working with YWAM (Youth With A Mission), I was praying with a fellow YWAM’er from India. She told me that she saw two pictures for me: In one picture, I was climbing a curved rope up the face of a mountain and when I looked back many people were following me. In the other picture, I was at the base of a waterfall and people were coming and bringing me buckets of water. I was filling the buckets and passing them out and those buckets were then filling up others. My friend encouraged me and told me: “Brandy, God is going to take you to mountainous places where people have never heard the Gospel and you are going to fill up their buckets with the Gospel, and they in turn will tell the Gospel to others.” And that is Climbing For Christ.

Brandy’s Bio

Date of Birth: June 8, 1987. Residence: Beaver Mines, Alberta, Canada. Personal: I live in the Rocky Mountains of Canada in the Southwestern part of Alberta. My parents (Debbie and Ernie) and older brother (Hawkin) own a greenhouse and landscaping business. In the winter months my parents do mission work in Africa. I married Dr. Matthew Fisher in August 2015.

Position: Coordinator of C4C Canada and ends-of-the-earth missionary.Church: Crowsnest Community Christian Centre.

How long have you climbed? More intensely in the last four years. But growing up my family and I would go hiking in the Rockies.

Type of climbing you do: Hiking and trekking, or whatever it takes to get to the people group that God has sent us to.

Highlight of climbing career: On Mission: Nigeria 2011, when we were hiking to a village in the Koma Hills in 100-degree heat, God brought us Waneke, a village leader. While talking with him and presenting the Gospel, his eyes were opened and he said, “I want to live!” and for the very first time Waneke talked to Jesus! God is greatly to be praised.

How long have you been a Christian: 11 years.

The testimony of your walk with Jesus: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” — James 4:8. God is daily teaching me more about who He is and His love. He constantly fills me up and teaches me the things I need to know to do what He says. May He be fully glorified through our lives and may we not waste our lives while here on earth.

Type of ministry you are blessed to serve in: Youth and young adults and, of course, Climbing For Christ.

Favorite Scripture verse (and why): 1 Corinthians 9:20-27. “To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law; to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the Gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.  Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.” It’s my life’s goal.

Special “God moment” you’d like to share: I suffered from daily migraines for 3½ years and on June 1, 2011 God showed me Isaiah 40:1 (“…And called out to her, that her warfare has ended…”) and since then I haven’t had a migraine!! God is good!

What does Climbing For Christ mean to you? It is an awesome ministry and I am stoked to be a part of it! It is all about fulfilling the Great Commission and not wasting your life while here on earth but going and answering God’s call. Acts 1:8 — “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Go!!
