Missionary Miguel Rubén Guante visited the Haitian school in the Dominican border town of Jimani, where he lives, to observe the teachers he’s been training and to test the children. “The children are going well,” he said. “It is sad we have not money to cover my trips to see the classes (in Gentilhomme, Malasi and Thoman, Haiti) with the regularity that is needed. Knowing that our teachers are not well prepared in their education, we should be near them more to see their needs and help them.” Despite the challenges — from a lack of adequately trained teachers to a shortage of supplies — Miguel says it will be “a fruitful school year.” He expects 80 percent of the 270 children in the four schools to pass this year and move up to the next grade. The fact that there are any schools for these children to attend is a mighty work by the Lord. Before Climbing For Christ visited the Chaine de la Selle mountains these children had nowhere to go to school.
