Saintela undergoes surgery to remove tumor

“Saintela is well from the surgeon,” wrote C4C’s missionary to Haiti, Miguel Rubén Guante. Saintela Toussaint underwent the two hour surgery Tuesday morning in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to remove an obstructive oral tumor from the roof of her mouth.

We give all praise and thanks to God for this successful surgery, which required three weeks of testing and waiting. The long treatment also was expensive. Before the surgery on Tuesday, expenses had reached more than US$3,400, while Climbing For Christ had raised and received pledges for a little more than $3,000.

“He is happy,” were Miguel’s words after contacting Saintela’s husband by phone and delivering the good news. This may seem like an obvious statement, however leading up to the surgery her husband and other family members were less than happy about Saintela receiving this treatment because of their Voodoo beliefs. We pray that the Lord is glorified and acknowledged back in our sister’s home village for all that He has done.

Saintela was rescued from a village near Malasi, where we’d first met her with a small growth in her mouth during Mission: Haiti 2012. She is expected to remain in the hospital in Santo Domingo until the middle of next week. Please pray that the Lord would continue to heal her body and use her life as a powerful testimony of God’s great love and care.
