Mission Moments: Nepal

Walls, water and the solar-power system have been repaired at the SARA orphanage that is sponsored by Climbing For Christ. “The children are fine,” said Pastor Tej Rokka, a C4C member and founder of the Savior Alone Redeems Asians ministry based in Kathmandu, “and their school has started.”
Life has returned to some sense of normalcy. But, on Wednesday (June 10), “there were again quite big aftershocks,” Tej said. “And people got afraid.”
Climbing For Christ relief is now aimed at recovery – and we give thanks to supporters who continue to give to C4C to help Nepal in the wake of devastating earthquakes in April and May.
Our next project will be to rebuild the home of sister Sumitra’s family in Dapcha. Tej spent time in the village east of Kathmandu, where the first of our three Nepal churches was built.
He went on June 10 to celebrate the church’s ninth anniversary. “I prayed for Krishna Lama (who started the church in a house in Dapcha) for his Bible college as he is preparing to go (June 23),” Tej said. “I also prayed for Gopal to take over the responsibility for Dapcha as a leader.”
C4C helped Gopal go to Bible college the past three years.
“It was a great joy to thank God for what He has done,” Tej said, “and distribute audio Bibles, candies, food, and worship the Lord together.
“Before I left, Sumitra’s father came to me and requested (help) because Sumitra has to take medicine every day. The medicine costs US$20 per month. He asked me to pray and help in this regard. They are poor and a Dalit family (an untouchable caste). Their house has been destroyed and they are living outside in tents. So please pray for Sumitra and her needs.”

We first met Sumitra on Mission: Nepal 2011, when we were helping to build the church at Dapcha. Her testimony, like many we have heard in Nepal, is one of God's healing hand bringing her to the foot of the cross. (CLICK HERE to watch our Mission: Nepal 2011 video and hear Sumitra’s story.)
We are praying about this and have been moved to pledge $3,000 toward the rebuilding of Sumitra’s family’s house as well as additional funds for her medicine, food, clothing and bedding – about $650 worth of goods.
