Corey Slider

Corey visits with villagers on the Tsum Valley trek during Mission: Nepal 2019.

Nationality:  American. Occupation: Financial controller. Missions with C4C: Nepal 2019 and 2022.

How long have you climbed? Ten years. Type of climbing you do: Hiking/backpacking. Highlight of climbing career: Solo trek in Patagonia in 2015. I don’t have any summits to speak of.

How long have you been a Christian? Although I would have claimed it my entire life, my understanding was corrected about 6-7 years ago and I view that as my new birth. Type of ministry you are blessed to serve in: I serve with a group of people from around Pittsburgh in ministry within a refugee community.

Favorite Scripture verse (and why): 1 John 1:9 would be one; it provides a promise that if we come before the Lord humbly and confess our sins, He will be faithful to forgive those sins and conform us to His image in purity and righteousness.

Special “God moment” you’d like to share: At the deepest point of the Nepal hike in 2019, the tea house owner came and sat and listened as we read from Luke, and later Megh gave her “The Treasure” audio Bible. It stuck out to me that it’s only God’s goodness that compelled us to be there and for that encounter to happen.

What does Climbing For Christ mean to you? An intentionality to support the ambassadorship of Christ in places where He is not known or worshiped.
