How long have you climbed? 30 years. Type of climbing you do: More like hiking than climbing. Class 2 Colorado 14ers; I’ve done a few Class 3 peaks in the past. Highlight of climbing career: Hiking the Middle Teton in Wyoming with some of our kids.
How long have you been a Christian? 47 years. Type of ministry you are blessed to serve in: Primarily church related as a small group leader and as a deacon at The Firehouse Church in Denver, CO.
Favorite Scripture verse (and why)? 1 Peter 1:3-5. In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade. This inheritance is kept (reserved) in heaven for you. I like this verse because it speaks to our eternal inheritance and there is nothing I or anyone else can do to destroy it, contaminate it, or cause it to fade away. It is reserved for me and God is protecting it. This is the goal of our faith.
Special “God moment” you’d like to share: I have been doing a Bible Study with my Hispanic neighbor and friend, Alfredo. He has recently gotten saved and baptized. It is such a pleasure to study the Bible together and to put it into practice.
What does Climbing For Christ mean to you? Climbing For Christ is a great organization that is reaching people for Christ through sharing the Gospel and through meeting people’s needs in remote areas around the world that are difficult to reach because of the terrain, poverty, or persecution.
