Mission Moments: Malawi

Blessed to touch lives

Malawi widows ululating or singing songs of praise for food received. (Photos by Damson Samson)

Damson Samson took the little we are able to provide each month to help his widows project (US $500) and fed the 191 in January. He purchased 45 bags of maize and helped the hungry in three villages.

“Many came in to receive the food gift,” Damson said. “Being in line, just to hear their names called and get their maize home with a smiling face.”

Looking for her name on the list.

“‘Is my name written?’ (they would wonder),” Damson said. “The holding (up) of the hands symbolizing thankful(ness) in our culture. The waving of hands from Msema village while others were ululating [the vocal expression of joy]. Everyone carrying his own portion back home. To God be the glory!

“This is the reason why we were blessed – so we can be able to touch these lives.”

May God continue to bless us so we may feed more in the months ahead.

Joy fills the face of the widow, center, who praised God for the food received.
