Shining God’s love on Malawi widows

A Climbing For Christ member, “moved greatly by your story of another donor giving the gift of such a home,” sent US $800 to build a new place for Malawi widow Anne Pesulo to live. Damson Samson, C4C’s Malawi-based missionary, identified Anne as the next to receive a house. “She has nowhere to stay,” Damson said this week. “We have more widows who have nowhere to stay and they are struggling with life.”

Widows ready to farm.

While God has provided through C4C to build homes for 39 widows, Damson identified and acted on yet another need. “I have rented 12 fields (to farm),” he said. “We have started clearing the land and are just waiting for seeds and fertilizer. I am expecting to yield over 150 bags of soya beans from all these fields and over 50 bags of maize and over 20 bags of pigeon peas. This will help to provide nutritious food to the dying bodies of our widows.

“I am still in prayer for food provision to the widows,” Damson added. “They opened their mouths to say they are dying for no food is available for them. I pray for God to remember them.”

As our Climbing For Christ member/donor wrote: “Please continue to serve these people who have been treated so poorly by their circumstances. Let the love of God shine through this ministry.”

This is Velonica Namalila, who Damson visited in Makhanamba village. Her kitchen is located behind this building. She also keeps her clothing there. She sleeps on the veranda and is worried about the coming rainy season.

Dickson Saimon has been trying to rebuild his house, one brick at a time. But Damson said it is not working. “Life is just hard for this man.”

Atuajele William also needs a proper house to stay in, according to Damson.
