Mission Moment: Uganda
Victorious results in the Rwenzori Mountains

Climbing For Christ
There was a break in the mission action in early August when some sports results came in from Uganda. Climbing For Christ member Rich Friday’s orphanage school had reached the final in a seven-team boys’ football tournament. Pastor Rich’s boys lost, but it was a victory for the Hope for Vulnerable Children Ministry.
To understand you needed to see a photo from the championship match: a team in real football uniforms lining up against a side wearing their school uniforms. It was a mismatch. Or at least is appeared to be a mismatch.

The following week, this great achievement was repeated. Another tournament, another final. This time, the boys from Vulnerable lost 5-4 on penalty kicks.
“This has brought our orphanage school known to the whole community and people have recognized what we are doing in Kasese,” Pastor Rich said. “Our children played without sports wears, they played while hungry and thirsty, but by God's help finally they defeated great schools and won matches.”
This warmed the heart of the old sports writer in me, and served as a reminder about where Climbing For Christ is needed. Reaching the unreached in out-of-reach places.
In early September, we provided some funding to Pastor Rich’s Hope Mission International for a conference and crusade in the nearby Rwenzori Mountains. Thirty-seven mountain churches gathered and Rich Friday shared our “love to the pastors and Christians of Mount Rwenzori and (told) them how the prayers, love and support of Climbing For Christ is constantly with them.”
Bringing light to the darkness in the Rwenzori Mountains.
Many were delivered and healed during this Gospel event, Pastor Rich reported. We give thanks and praise God for this.
“He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and on them he has set the world.”
