Mission Moments: Malawi
Heaven feeds hundreds of Malawi widows

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” - 1 John 5:14 (NIV)
“If Heaven would provide,” Damson Samson pled, “please help us with $2,000 so that I can just buy and distribute” food to our widows. “I pray that our members around the world should continue praying for these widows. Their life, which is [full of] strife, [is hard] to survive.”
Damson asked according to His will at the beginning of October. Later in the month, a dedicated Climbing For Christ member responded to our “ask” about housing and planting in E-Newsletter 326 and on our Web site (“Shining God’s love on Malawi’s widows”), by sending a generous gift. The amount? $2,000.
We gave thanks, discussed how best to use these funds (with both the donor and Damson), and decided to feed the widows now and build more houses later.
“It is the Holy Spirit who urged me to give that amount and clearly God is directing this,” our member said. “Since food is more important than shelter at this time, then please wisely use the money to God’s glory for these widows. I am thankful C4C invested in Damson.”
Funds were wired on Thursday, Nov. 2, and hundreds were fed on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Food prepared (above) and distributed (below).
“More glory and honor to Heaven for the support that was given,” Damson said in an immediate praise report to the Home Office. “Through what you gave me, I was able to buy 105 bags of maize and 10 bags of pigeon peas.
“We had hundreds gather and every widow went home with 11 kilograms of maize and 1 kilogram of pigeon peas. They were happy and thanked God through Climbing For Christ for providing such a great support.”
Damson told the assembly the story of the four lepers, found in 2 Kings 7:3-20. The four were dying of hunger and “took a step of faith” to go to a Syrian camp, Damson explained, and God intervened on their behalf.
God continues to feed His people, no matter how lowly they appear to the world. He blesses the least of these. He does so by involving those who have been given much.
Damson sends us this challenge us from his nation, which is among the world’s poorest:
“To all our members, let’s be responsible,” Damson said. “If you happen to get this story then ask, ‘Why God has let me hear this?’”
