Mission Moments: Malawi

Widows worship and give thanks in Malawi

Damson and a sister in Christ speaking at a special widows’ worship at a teachers college.

As Damson Samson traveled from village to village to visit the growing number of widows being embraced by Project 1:27 (based on James 1:27), he felt a need to gather them together for a time of worship. On March 24, he welcomed more than 100 widows who God has been providing for through Damson and Climbing For Christ.

“I thank heaven,” he said, “for we had 22 lives come to Christ.”

Damson, who works for the Lord through Climbing For Christ, is calling this a “great revival to our widows,” who have been served with physical needs ranging from sleeping mats, blankets and food to a roof over their heads or a rebuilt house in which to live. They’ve also been blessed with Bible groups to serve the spiritual need, and now a time of worship and praise to the One Who is providing for the least of the least of these in southern Malawi.

More than 100 blankets were distributed, much to the joy of the recipients.

Sleeping mats also were distributed among the widows.

The Word

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27 (NIV)
