Mission Moments: Peru

The ‘path of the just’ in the Andes of Peru

By Jordan Rowley

“The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day,” says Proverbs 4:18. And beautiful are the feet of the ones who walk that path – to share the Good News of Jesus.

Climbing For Christ’s missionary to Peru, Jaime Servat, has once again been stepping out and shining the glorious light of God’s kingdom in the Cordillera Blanca range of the Peruvian Andes (an area where C4C has been serving for roughly eight years). Though we’ve covered much ground delivering the Gospel to numerous remote villages and mountain farming communities, the area is vast and the harvest remains plentiful.

How true the proverb is: “the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.”

As Jaime walked the path of a new village, Aco, many turned their faces toward the most beautiful Light  Jesus  shining brighter and warmer than a thousand suns.

“I met an 80-year-old woman named Manuela,” Jaime shared. “[She had] never received our Lord Jesus in her heart. So after I [told her about] His salvation she received the Lord Jesus.”

In addition to the spiritual healing that Manuela experienced, others saw the light of Christ shine down in another way. Jaime joyfully reported one example of a physical healing, saying, “I prayed for brother Alvino who had pains in his whole body. He received His healing in minutes. So, amen!”

We rejoice with heaven for Manuela, and others, who were born into the Kingdom. And we praise God for the physical healing that took place in the body of Alvino, and others, relieving years of pain and discomfort in an instant.

Manuela, above, received Christ, while Alvino, below, received healing.

Seeing people come to Christ and witnessing healing is exciting. No doubt, these people experience God’s glorious light in powerful ways. Some saw another light during Jaime’s visit to Aco – His word. Remember the classic verse from Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

As Jaime hiked, he came across two young ladies.I met two sisters seated in a field,” Jaime said. “I asked if they [had] Bibles or New Testaments. They said no. So I [gave] them New Testaments. We pray that Rosita and Edelin – along with all those who received New Testaments – would treasure the Word in their hearts and allow God to use it to illuminate their steps. May their path, and the path of all those touched during Jaime’s mission to Aco shine ever brighter unto the perfect day.”

Jordan Rowley is Climbing For Christ’s spiritual coordinator. He has participated in all of C4C’s expeditions to Peru.
