Western New York fall update
Autumn is in the air
By Gary Fallesen, founding president, Climbing For Christ
Labor Day is over. Back to work, back to school. It’s football season! Pumpkin spice is on every menu and in seemingly every food. Leaves are red and underfoot as I trail run. All of this means it’s time for us to turn to our autumn calendar.
Here’s a glance at important upcoming dates with some additional details below. Plenty of PRAY, GIVE, GO opportunities. Hope you will be joining us this fall.
Wednesday, Sept. 13-Friday, Sept. 29 – Mission: Nepal 2017, Part 2. Please pray for Jordan Rowley and me as we GO. Follow us through our daily Dispatches at ClimbingForChrist.org.
Friday, Sept. 29 – Monthly prayer gathering. Meet at Hilton Applefest food booth to pray for Climbing For Christ.
Saturday, Sept. 30-Sunday, Oct. 1 – Hilton Applefest. GO to our annual food-booth fundraiser and volunteer to help!
Tuesday, Oct. 10 – Heritage “Adirondack Adventure,” 10 a.m. at Moss Lake. GO and hike with our friends from Heritage Christian Services. Email Heritage staffer and C4C member Diane Sturmer to participate.
Tuesday, Oct. 10-Friday, Oct. 20 – Abide Bear Fruit international gathering. Pray for our participation in the work of a network of ministries seeking to reach the remaining Muslim unreached people groups by 2025.
Saturday, Oct. 14 – Photo Finish 5K. GO and run for Team C4C and ask family and friends to give to this fundraiser!
Friday, Oct. 27 – Monthly prayer gathering. Pray for Climbing For Christ.
Saturday, Oct. 28 – Board of Directors ANNUAL MEETING. Pray for our time together as we prepare for the work the LORD has prepared for us to walk in. (The C4C Canada Board’s Annual Meeting is the following weekend, on Saturday, Nov. 4, in Alberta.)
Applefest
New digs for Climbing For Christ at Applefest 2017. This is the new tent we needed to buy to meet festival standards.
One of our biggest fundraisers is also one of our biggest investments in time. We need an army of volunteers to serve up “mountain-fresh” smoothies, pulled pork sandwiches, walking tacos, and other popular treats. We have been blessed (thankfully) with that army for many years and we’re asking again. Can you volunteer for half of a day in the morning or the afternoon on Saturday, Sept. 30 or Sunday, Oct. 1? Or lend a hand to help with set up in the days before the event or breakdown immediately after the festival ends on Oct. 1?
Contact Laurie and Kevin Kimble to discuss our needs and offer your services. We love the heart of a servant. Email laurikim@gmail.com. Thanks in advance!
Photo Finish 5K
Another big fundraiser for Climbing For Christ is the annual Photo Finish 5K, hosted by the George Eastman House in Rochester. We are again putting together a team of runners and walkers who are willing to ask people to sponsor Team C4C. Our fundraising page is waiting for its first donor. Go to https://www.crowdrise.com/ClimbingForChrist2017.
Contact Elaine Fallesen about running with Team C4C. She’ll give you the top-secret code to register for the race for FREE. (Yes, I said free.) Email efallesen@ClimbingForChrist.org.
Pray on!
Please lift the ongoing work God is doing through Climbing For Christ. As our old comic friend Brad Stine used to say (and I paraphrase), “God’s out in front and we’re back here trying to keep up. ‘LORD, I’ll just be resting here for a moment, You go on ahead.’”
It has been an amazing year in HIS ministry … and it’s only two-thirds complete!
We’ve now seen 54 souls rescued from slavery in brick factories in Pakistan, 37 houses built for widows in Malawi, additional orphans sponsored and cared for in Nepal and Malawi, church-builds funded in Nepal, and scores of unreached people reached with the Good News of Jesus in numerous places where others couldn’t (or wouldn’t) GO.
I’ve been blessed to GO to Indonesia, the Philippines, Morocco, Nepal, Malawi and Peru so far, and we’ll be heading to Nepal again (next week), Thailand (next month), Tanzania (in November), and various places in the U.S. and Canada.
Pray on!
Give anytime
We’ve addressed two of our big fundraisers (Applefest and the Photo Finish 5K), but you don’t need a special event to support Climbing For Christ. You can give anytime. We appreciate it when you do.
You can send checks to Climbing For Christ at P.O. Box 16290, Rochester, NY 14616-0290 or CLICK HERE and give online via PayPal. Many thanks for your generosity.
