Mission Moments: Malawi
Dream on: new mattresses, bedding for kids

“I will sleep like a baby tonight,” Clement said as he hauled off his new mattress.
The Project 1:27-sponsored children in Malawi received new mattresses and bedding recently. We were saddened to learn during our Mission: Malawi 2017 visit to the children’s home in June that thieves had stolen several mattresses and kids were sleeping on the wooden planks in their beds.
We asked to see improvements made in the children’s living quarters.
A room, specifically for the boys, was under construction when we were there. Another $2,000 was needed to finish it. More would be required to build a new room for the girls.

“Another serious issue that we could consider in near future is to build a brick wall around the Children`s Home to avoid thieves stealing our materials and food for the kids,” Pastor Duncan Nyozani suggested in August. He asked us to pray for the provision of $3,900 to build this security wall.
With the addition of three new children, 22 kids are being cared for by Pastor Duncan’s ministry, the Share Hope Foundation. These children received mattresses, blankets, sheets, and pillows. “They are happy to have them,” Duncan said.

Joyous pillow fights: new bedding is distributed among the children, above and below.
Almost immediately thieves attempted to rob the rooms housing the children.
“Last night a group of thieves came to children’s home to steal, but thank God they failed,” Duncan said on Tuesday, Sept. 5. “I believe they heard that we have bought some materials for the kids. Praying for an urgent (need) of funds to build a brick fence for security. I have asked watchmen from the school to be watching for the children’s home.”
