Mission Moments: Malawi

The war on bugs

The headline screamed from the front page of The Nation newspaper based in Blantyre, Malawi’s center of finance and commerce: “Army worms affect 20 districts.”

It refers to the “devastating” pest, the stalk borer, which has invaded Malawi’s maize fields.

While the Malawi government was debating how to respond, Climbing For Christ was answering the request of member and ministry partner Pastor Duncan Nyozani for help. God provided US$4,000 through C4C to Duncan, who immediately purchased chemicals and hired 10 sprayers to strike back against the stalk borer attack on the crops of his churches.

“We are busy these days spraying the chemicals to our gardens,” Duncan reported Thursday night. “People are thankful for the chemicals donation.”

We are praising the LORD for what He has given us and asking that He would bless our brothers and sisters in Malawi with a healthy harvest that would reduce the hunger and suffering in Malawi.
