Mission Moments: Malawi

Hunger, thieves, and a future harvest in Malawi

Food continues to be distributed among our brothers and sisters in Pastor Duncan Nyozani’s churches in southern Malawi even as a long-awaited harvest of maize begins. As always it is a mixture of thanksgiving and pain.

“People are busy harvesting right now,” Duncan said. “There is a lot of theft of crops in the gardens in the community. So people are harvesting while it is not fully ready to avoid being stolen by thieves. Thieves are going at night to harvest other peoples’ crops.”

Duncan said some of his crops were stolen.

“Yes, there is a group of bad young men in the community who go out to steal peoples’ crops in the farmlands during the night,” he said. “It is terrible.”

Join us in praying for the harvest and the feeding of those living in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world. Pray also for those who do wrong. “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need” (Ephesians 4:28).
