Mission Moments: Malawi
A lake safari for the orphans
In the weeks leading up to CHRISTmas, Pastor Duncan Nyozani of Searchlight Ministries informed us that the orphans in his care – who are sponsored by Project 1:27 – had requested a trip to the lake for the CHRISTmas and New Year’s holidays. “Every one of them says something about the lake almost every day,” he said. “It seems they have strongly agreed to force us to do this for them.”
We were not forced, but moved to give this “lake safari” as an additional CHRISTmas gift.
On CHRISTmas day, the children enjoyed gifts of new clothing and ate “special food, like cold drinks, spaghetti, chips, sausages, chicken,” Duncan reported (see CHRISTmas in Malawi). “These are foods that are rarely eaten by them.”
Then, on Boxing Day, the children went with Damson Samson and two other brothers in Christ to Lake Mpoto.
“We were able to hire a bus for a lake safari,” Duncan said, adding that they also bought food for the trip. “The kids have really enjoyed this trip. They were very much excited to see that small lake. They had wonderful time.”
“They had also activities like a boat ride, see water pumps that farmers use there for irrigation,” Duncan reported. “The kids had also to try them. Very interesting.
“We are very thankful to C4C for sponsoring this trip.”
Special thanks to our Project 1:27 sponsors for making this CHRISTmas wish a reality for these children.
