Steve Quakenbush

Dr. Steve caring for one of the many ill in the mountains of Haiti.

Nationality: American. Occupation: Physician’s assistant. Missions with C4C: Haiti 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, and Malawi 2017 and 2020.

How long have you climbed?
On and off for 30 years. Type of climbing you do: Now only walking and hiking. Highlight of climbing career: Mount Massive, Colorado, and my first visit to Gentilhomme, Haiti. How long have you been a Christian? All of my life. Type of ministry you are blessed to serve in: C4C Mission: Haiti, First United Methodist Church (of Canon City, CO) missions, and at-large member of Climbing For Christ’s Board of Directors.

Favorite Scripture verse and why: Matthew 25:40. (“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”) We do what we do for others because of our example given by Jesus and because of our great love for Him. Serving the “least of these” is our incredible honor.

Special “God moment” you’d like to share:
I have witnessed many moments in the mountains of Haiti. The miracle of healing of Donya, a severely burned woman we found in the dirt on our first visit, will always remain with me.

What does Climbing For Christ mean to you:
By partnering with C4C you are working with a Christ-centered organization that has complete integrity serving the poorest of the poor, physically and spiritually, in the remote corners of the world.
