Aurora Murga

Aurora, left, ‘dancing’ with college roommate and Mission: Peru veteran Lexi Hooper at Ice Lake near Silverton, CO.

Nationality: American. Occupation: Student/Barista/Library Assistant/Ski Instructor. Missions with C4C: Peru 2018.

How long have you climbed? Since I was very young with my family, but it wasn’t until about three years ago when I found my passion for it. Type of climbing you do: Hiking, backpacking, and occasionally I go bouldering. Highlight of climbing career: That would probably be hiking Ice Lake and Island Lake in September 2017.

How long have you been a Christian? For as long as I can remember. I was brought up in the church, but it wasn’t until college when I started taking my faith seriously. Type of ministry you are blessed to serve in: I have been blessed to work mostly with children in programs such as Sunday School, AWANA, and Vacation Bible School. In March 2017 I was able to go to Juarez, Mexico and help build the foundation for a school there with a team from Christian Challenge. I have also been blessed to be able to use my music within the church.

Favorite Scripture verse (and why): “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.” Psalm 30:11-12 because throughout all the rough patches in my life, God has always used music and dance (among other things) in my life to help strengthen me and some of the times that I feel closest to God is through music and dance.

Special “God moment” you’d like to share: Within the last couple of months I have seen close friends grow stronger in their relationship with God and God has placed new individuals in my life that have helped me to grow stronger in Him as well.

What does Climbing For Christ mean to you? Climbing For Christ brings together people who are willing to go to places that others many not be able to and to help share the love of Jesus to people who might never get the chance to be told.
