Mission Moments: Indonesia
Aid for those in need of salt and light
Devastation in Palu, Central Sulawesi, including a destroyed mosque, is seen in this aerial photo from the Reuters news agency.
Natural disasters in the country with the world’s largest Muslim population continue to be a wakeup call to the church. There are millions upon millions going to hell.
On Sept. 28, a series of earthquakes, including one that measured 7.5 magnitude on the Richter Scale, rocked Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It caused a tsunami that produced a 20-foot wall of water that washed over the capital city of Palu. Thousands were left dead and many, many more were left homeless and suffering.
C4C Indonesia leader Budi Yuwono’s church in Jakarta is establishing an emergency base camp, where those in need can be served food, temporary shelter, medical assistance, and more. Foreign assistance is limited, so having nationals who can help is crucial. Plans were in motion before the disaster for outreach among an unengaged unreached people group in Central Sulawesi. We are praying that God will turn this disaster into good for His glory.
