Mission: Philippines 2020

A new thing

A new chapter in the Philippines.

God is doing a new thing in the Philippines.

Our work there began over a decade ago with Adreian “Ace” Concordia, former Climbing For Christ Board member and Philippines chapter coordinator. From 2008 to 2016, 19 short-term missions took place in Kibungan, Benguet province, located on the northern end of Luzon, one of the main islands. Dalipey, Badeo, Les-eng, Bekes, and Culiang were villages that were frequently focused in on. School supplies and medical care were regularly delivered – along with the Gospel. In addition, completion of the Kankanaey Bible became a large focus of our work in the Philippines (Kankanaey being the native language of the people living in Kibungan).

In recent years, though, C4C Philippines went into a state of dormancy as Ace undertook the immense task of planting a church in the capital city of Manila. We praise God for the fruit we witnessed among the Kankanaey in years past and give glory to God for the lives Ace is impacting now as pastor of a growing church.

Now we look ahead to a new chapter in C4C’s story in the Philippines.

Asiel dela Fuente was raised up by the Lord to become our new C4C Philippines coordinator toward the end of 2018. Earlier that year he and nine others conducted a mission to the island of Mindoro. This “new breed of mission volunteers,” as Asiel called them, shared school supplies and the love of Jesus with the Mangyan people who call the mountains of Mindoro their home. In addition, Asiel has conducted several other gatherings to promote C4C Philippines and discipleship of those who have a love for the outdoors.

It’s exciting to see God doing a new thing in a new place with a new leader. In 2020, we’ll be joining Asiel and C4C Philippines on a mission to the Mangyan people of Mindoro. We hope to deliver school supplies and medical care, as well as conduct outreach in several villages. This mission will be a promising new step in a bold new direction. Where it will lead, God alone knows. Perhaps this mission will open the door to further work among the Mangyan. Or possibly to work on the island of Mindanao. The possibilities are endless – and exciting – in a country with 5.4 million unreached people.

Please pray for this new season in the Philippines.

2020 MISSION: Climbing For Christ will return to the Philippines in February 2020. This will be Climbing For Christ’s 20th Evangelic Expedition to the Philippines since 2008.
