We have been blessed by precious moments of sheer joy exhibited by pastors on the receiving end of a church building provided by God through Climbing For Christ. Meeting our brothers and sisters in the church at Milatu, Mozambique while on Mission: Malawi 2014 was a taste of heaven.
There was singing, dancing, hugging, and smiling. It was a time of praise and giving thanks.
The church was our sixth build globally and our first in Africa.
It started when Pastor Felix Namame rode his bike from Milatu, Mozambique to Kambona, Malawi (about 90 kilometers/56 miles) to meet with C4C president Gary Fallesen in March 2011. Gary was leading a team that was working at the Searchlight Ministries’ orphanage that is part of our Project 1:27. Pastor Felix’s church is part of Pastor Duncan Nyozani’s Searchlight Ministries.
A request was made for assistance to construct a church building. The believers in Milatu were meeting in the shade of a large tree. We agreed to pray for this opportunity.
This is where patience comes into play. We are on God’s schedule – and we’ve been through this before (Thoman, Haiti) and since (Chalhua, Peru).

- On Mission: Haiti 2007, Pastor Luterne Polissain asked C4C to help him build a church in Thoman in the Chaine de la Selle range where Climbing For Christ ministered from 2005-2015. Work did not begin until late 2009 and the church was dedicated to the LORD on Sept. 26, 2010.
- On Mission: Peru 2011, Pastor Isabel requested assistance from C4C in Chalhua on our inaugural expedition into the Cordillera Blanca range of the Peruvian Andes. The Chalhua church had outgrown her house. It took several years for funding to be raised and, as of this writing, the church is not totally completed. But it was dedicated to the LORD on July 24 by our Mission: Peru 2015 team.
Similarly, it was more than one year before the first funds for the church at Milatu, Mozambique arrived. Soon after, the walls went up on a church that was dedicated to the LORD on June 8, 2013. We saw it in person on March 7, 2014, when the PHOTO OF THE WEEK above was taken.
Houses of worship
Climbing For Christ has been blessed to help build four churches in Haiti (although one of those was only intended to be a “temporary” structure), three churches in Nepal (with another project in the works), one in Mozambique, and one in Peru. Here are those churches in chronological order:

Simikot, Nepal in God’s time. A church leader in the remote Far West district of Humla points to land (right of the airstrip) being purchased to build the first church in Simikot.
