Mission Moments: Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro Chapter members meeting with Damson Samson.
Praying for more lives transformed
Gregory Nyange Aman’s life has been changed by his association with the Kilimanjaro Chapter. He stopped smoking and drinking, and he testified that all of the “challenges in the family” that resulted from those vices have “completely gone away.”
“Now, they are able to pray together as a family,” said Damson Samson, Climbing For Christ’s missionary to East Africa.

Damson’s latest mission trip to Tanzania — completed between May 17 and 28 — was his eighth journey to the Kilimanjaro area since he was called to serve two years ago and participated in Mission: Kilimanjaro 2014 that August.
He went with the desire of seeing how Climbing For Christ training has impacted the guides and porters who work on Mount Kilimanjaro. He met with 22 of our indigenous members — five in Moshi and 17 in Marangu. “They shared with me that many people have preached both on the mountain and in homes as well,” Damson said. “They further said there is a great change in their (own) lives.”
Damson leaves for work, above, and was only delayed on his second day of travel by a bus breakdown.
As Damson traveled from his home in southern Malawi (“it started very wonderful” until his bus broke down on the second day) to northeastern Tanzania, “I asked God what I should share with my brothers.” He wanted to do as the Lord directed. “I was given the title, ‘The power of the Word.’”
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1
“I shared this with them to bring up the understanding of the Word and how powerful the Word is,” Damson said. “We learned that Jesus was the Word from God, living on earth in a human form. The Word was with God in the beginning and all things were made through Him. Without Him, not anything was made. It was by Him that we are saved and He is the only One to be trusted — a gift given to all mankind.
“As a man, we have been given the will to choose. The choice is his — to trust the Word of God, which is Jesus Christ, or not. That’s why the Bible says He came to His own, but they did not receive Him. As we have received Him, he gave us power to become sons of God. How do we get Him? By trusting in His Word and confessing with our mouth that He died and rose.”

Damson told his brothers that they each carry many secrets in their hearts and he led them in prayer to keep Jesus leading their lives.
“The response from these (22) brothers was very attractive and convicting,” he said. “I had a wonderful time with these brothers. They are just waiting for the August meeting (when a short-term team from the United States will join Damson on Mission: Kilimanjaro 2016).”
Damson’s next trip to Tanzania will be to lead another conference on evangelism as Climbing For Christ continues to equip guides and porters to deliver the Good News on — and off — Mount Kilimanjaro. He also will spend more time discipling these brothers in Christ. In so doing, he will hear more testimonies, like the one Gregory Nyange Aman shared.
“He said that it is a new life on earth after the many years he has been staying on earth,” Damson said. “This victory was made possible by the support from C4C. And he made his prayer for daily growth.”
The Word
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” — Romans 12:2 (ESV)
